2010 Fantasy Foosball Analysis (Part 3 of 3)
Team Infamy
Projected Starters: Kevin Kolb QB, DeAngelo Williams RB, Knowshon Moreno RB, Justin Forsett RB/WR, Randy Moss WR, Marques Colston WR, Kevin Boss TE
Bench: Matt Stafford QB, Kevin Smith RB, Jeremy Maclin WR, Braylon Edwards WR, Terrell Owens WR, Nate Burleson WR
Analysis: Infamy may have one of the better receiving corps this year… and probably one of the deepest too. Unfortunately for him, his QBs and RBs all have major question marks. Kolb is finally the main man in Philadelphia, but we don’t know how well he’ll play. Stafford is coming off injury from last year… and he also plays on the lowly Lions. Williams has an extensive history of injury, but he is great if he can stay on the field. Moreno is a solid, but so far unimpressive back. Forsett is a gamble, with Leon Washington likely to get a bulk of carries. And Kevin Smith may end up sharing carries with a rookie. If he can swap a WR for a solid RB, playoffs would not be a longshot.
Team Mak
Projected Starters: Joe Flacco QB, Chris Johnson RB, Matt Forte RB, C.J. Spiller RB/WR, DeSean Jackson WR, Kenny Britt WR, Jason Witten TE
Bench: Steve Slaton RB, Ben Tate RB, Vincent Jackson WR, Lee Evans WR, Devin Hester WR, Sidney Rice WR, Antonio Bryant WR
Analysis: If Forte runs like he did his rookie season, then this team is a strong playoff team. Britt will probably impress this year. This team does need to improve its running back depth, having only Steve Slaton - who has had fumbling problems and is in danger of losing his job. Jackson is a small gamble, but as soon as he resolves his contract situation, he may be starting over Britt. If Britt does not pan out, Lee Evans is still a solid receiver. Spiller is an electrifying back, but what he will provide remains to be seen. Still, with Chris Johnson on the roster, you can never count this team out. Just don’t expect anything from the likes of Rice or Hester.
Team Hiren
Projected Starters: Drew Brees QB, Ricky Williams RB, Jonathan Stewart RB, Darren Sproles RB/WR, Steve Smith (Giants) WR, Donald Driver WR, Brent Celek TE
Bench: Carson Palmer QB, Tim Hightower RB, Mike Bell RB, Devery Henderson WR, Todd Heap TE, Mohamed Massaquoi WR, Jason Avant WR
Analysis: This is a very solid, but also very average team. The RB corps will most likely not wow you. Ricky Williams will be sharing time with Ronnie Brown. Stewart will be sharing time with DeAngelo Williams. Both will be excellent if their counterparts were to be injured. Drew Brees will need to have another terrific year for this team to go deep in the playoffs.
Team Fenix
Projected Starters: Aaron Rodgers QB, Beanie Wells RB, LeSean McCoy RB, Santana Moss WR/RB, Reggie Wayne WR, Percy Harvin WR, Owen Daniels TE
Bench: Mark Sanchez QB, Arian Foster RB, Montario Hardesty WR, Leon Washington RB, Fred Taylor RB, Dez Bryant WR, Jeremy Shockey TE
Analysis: Like with most other teams, there are strong question marks at the running back position. Wells may end up sharing some time with Hightower. McCoy may not be able to handle a #1 back’s load. Aaron Rodgers, though, may end up being the #1 QB by year’s end. If Harvin has a breakout year (with Sidney Rice on the IR), this team may do very well.
Daft Attack
Projected Starters: Matt Schaub QB, Steven Jackson RB, Cedric Benson RB, Dwayne Bowe RB/WR, Larry Fitzgerald WR, Anquan Boldin WR, Jermichael Finley TE
Bench: Michael Bush RB, Darren McFadden RB, Fred Jackson RB, Austin Collie WR, Louis Murphy WR, Early Doucet WR, Josh Morgan WR
Analysis: Despite the auto-draft, this team may end up being one of the top teams. There are some question marks that need to be resolved first though. Will Steven Jackson remain injury-free and continue being the Rams workhorse? Will Benson be able to repeat his performance from last year? Will Bowe produce like he did a couple years ago? Will Derek Anderson/Matt Leinart be able to get Larry Fitzgerald the ball? Will Boldin show that he’s truly a #1 receiver? If all signs point to yes, then this team may be the team to beat.
Team Vora
Projected Starters: Tony Romo QB, Adrian Peterson RB, Joseph Addai RB, Mike Wallace RB/WR, Miles Austin WR, Mike Sims-Walker WR, Tony Gonzalez TE
Bench: Thomas Jones RB, Chester Taylor RB, Kevin Walter WR, Mike Williams WR, Zach Miller TE, Kellen Winslow TE
Analysis: A very solid team, but may have a couple TEs too many. Adrian Peterson can single handedly carry a below average team to the playoffs, but this isn’t a below average team.
Gmen Champs
Projected Starters: Brett Favre QB, Maurice Jones-Drew RB, Ryan Matthews RB, Brandon Jacobs RB/WR, Calvin Johnson WR, T.J. Houshmandzadeh WR, Antonio Gates TE
Bench: Laurence Maroney RB, Willis McGahee RB, Steve Breaston WR, Joey Galloway WR, Greg Camarillo WR, Greg Olsen TE
Analysis: Strong team, but the Chargers situation and Giants situation with their running backs are a question mark. If Jacobs can juggernaut the way he did 2 years ago and Matthews can get the bulk of the carries over Darren Sproles, this is a pretty good team. Unfortunately, with Favre at the helm, we are never sure what to expect from him.
Team Liu
Projected Starters: Philip Rivers QB, Ray Rice RB, Cadillac Williams RB, Reggie Bush RB/WR, Brandon Marshall WR, Michael Crabtree WR, Dallas Clark TE
Bench: LaDainian Tomlinson RB, Correll Buckhalter RB, Rashad Jennings RB, Mario Manningham WR, Pierre Garcon WR
Analysis: A decent team actually, despite a few drafting gaffes. Who knows what to expect from Cadillac Williams and the Saints RB corps is crowded. If LDT can step up, this can be another strong team. Another unexpected question mark is Rivers… he may have lost Vincent Jackson, but is developing repoire with Malcom Floyd. If he can remain at an elite level, I expect this team to be in the playoffs.
Team Come Git Some
Projected Starters: Tom Brady QB, Michael Turner RB, Pierre Thomas RB, Jerome Harrison RB/WR, Chad Ochocinco WR, Hakeem Nicks WR, Chris Cooley TE
Bench: Chad Henne QB, Brian Westbrook RB, Tashard Choice RB, Larry Johnson RB, Robert Meachem WR, Derrick Mason WR, Golden Tate WR
Analysis: This is probably one of the better teams, but with a question mark at the receiving corps. Nicks must produce at a high level, but I don’t expect too much from this bench.
Team Decal
Projected Starters: Peyton Manning QB, Ryan Grant RB, Rashard Mendenhall RB, Marion Barber RB/WR, Hines Ward WR, Jerricho Cotchery WR, Visanthe Shiancoe TE
Bench: Jay Cutler QB, Marshawn Lynch RB, Julius Jones RB, Santonio Holmes WR, Anthony Gonzalez WR, John Carlson TE
Analysis: Elite QB, strong RBs, some questions at WR. When Santonio Holmes returns, this will be a different story. Expect a strong playoff push from this team.
Galileo Humpkins
Projected Starters: Donovan McNabb QB, Shonn Greene RB, Felix Jones RB, Steve Smith (Panthers) RB/WR, Andre Johnson WR, Greg Jennings WR, Heath Miller TE
Bench: Jahvid Best RB, Clinton Portis RB, Bernard Scott RB, Bernard Berrian WR, Johnny Knox WR, Donnie Avery WR, Dustin Keller TE
Analysis: This receiving corps won’t be caught humping around. I’m not too sure about Shonn Greene as my #1 back though. He and Felix Jones will need to produce to get this team over the hump. Not sure what to expect from Jahvid Best, while he’s sharing carries with Kevin Smith. Portis and Scott probably will not be strong earners, but they will probably be decent. This is the best receiving corps in this league without a doubt.
