Mid-Season Fantasy Studs

Most Valuable QB – The QB with the most amount of points is Philip Rivers. The QB with the highest average points per game is Peyton Manning. Neither of these QBs win this award. Both of these QBs are top tier QBs and were most likely drafted early. My vote for Most Valuable QB thus far goes to Kyle Orton. If he was even drafted in your league, he was a late round pick. Despite low expectations, Orton has not had a week not in the double digits. Rivers and Manning have both had at least 1 disappointing week. He is currently the #3 Fantasy QB (but on bye this week, so he will end up falling to 5th). So for his Average Draft Position (ADP), he is definitely the most valuable QB.

Most Valuable RB – Adrian Peterson has been an absolute monster, but he still isn’t the highest ranked RB. That title belongs to Arian Foster. But neither wins this award – the award goes to Darren McFadden. Yes, that’s right, Mr. Run DMC. Before the season, he probably wasn’t even the #1 RB in Oakland on your list. But now, he’s the #3 RB, despite missing 2 weeks due to injury. He even decimated the Broncos defense with an amazing fantasy performance after returning.

Most Valuable WR – Roddy White has been great. Calvin Johnson has been amazing, despite having Shaun Hill throw to him for a majority of the season. But the #1 receiver is Brandon Lloyd (of all people), so that in itself wins him the award. He most likely wasn’t even on your draft list, but he has the most points (as of this week, most likely dropping to #3 after this week due to his bye).

Most Valuable TE – Not even a contest. It’s Antonio Gates. He’s performing like a top tier WR at the TE position.

Most Valuable Player – The biggest difference between a #1 and #2 at the same position is 47 points. This player is Antonio Gates. He gives fantasy owners at least a 5-10 point advantage every week. What more can you ask for in a fantasy player?

Most Improved Player – Wow, this list is filled with possibilities. As you can see in RB and WR, we have two very good candidates. I’ll have to give this to McFadden though, since he has been more consistent than Lloyd.

Biggest Bust – Here are the contenders:

Ray Rice – Average Draft Position was 3rd or 4th, he was supposed to be a fantasy star. But he has had only 1 good week.

Ryan Grant – 1st round pick, out for the season too early.

Randy Moss – The food he had wasn’t as bad as his performance thus far.

DeAngelo Williams – Have you been following his season thus far? Can’t get to 10 points!

Ricky Williams/Ronnie Brown – If you drafted either one early, you’re probably in trouble.

I’m gonna give this one to D-Will. At least Rice has some promise. Grant’s injury was not his fault. Williams/Brown should probably not have been a pick in the top 2 rounds. D-Will, on average, was a 1st round pick. You can’t drop him just because of his upside. You can’t start him because he’s killing you. Yeah, he’s the biggest bust so far.
